Athena is the Pathways Coordinator at ZUMIX and a Massachusetts Promise Fellow for the 2024-2025 school year. Her role includes providing support to the ZTC (ZUMIX Teen Council) and LIT (Leaders in Training), as well as assisting with college access, homework help, and post-secondary plans, and planning a monthly curriculum called Pathways to Life Skills. Athena’s love for education and academic support began as a full-time public school substitute in her hometown of Chelsea, MA. Athena has also worked in Boston-area theater companies as an audience support staff member and ticketing representative at the Huntington Theatre Company and American Repertory Theatre.
Athena is a 2023 graduate of the University of Hartford, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Digital Media and Journalism, with an emphasis in Digital Media Production. She was also involved in radio class, WSAM Radio, and other clubs on campus. She worked on a podcast project series called The Transparency Exchange with Destiny Jade. She also was a part of the Salem Arts Festival’s Juried Gallery in the summer of 2022, which moved her to keep painting and exploring all mediums of art.
Outside of work, Athena is a freelance creative with interests in music, art and poetry. She also enjoys playing video games and hanging out with her family and her dog, Kamala. She speaks and understands English, Spanish, and Kreyol. She hopes to continue inspiring ZUMIX youth with her story.
