I’m a rising senior at East Boston High School and I’ve been working at ZUMIX this summer. I’ve been working in the development office.
A typical day at ZUMIX varies, according to who I’m working with and the projects I have with different departments. During my time here, I’ve done a bit of graphic design for marketing, data entry, and updating the database to help have a complete picture of donors at the summer events. I also helped prepare event materials, which included sorting pictures for the ZUMIX Gala happening later on this year.
The most fun project I worked on was both the flyers for summer concerts, because it was the first time I had done anything like it, and looking for pictures for the Gala. I got to see how ZUMIX started and how it has continued to grow over the years, which is amazing to see.
Something that surprised me at ZUMIX was how friendly everyone is. I’ve felt really welcomed by everyone ever since the very first day, which was a relief, considering how nervous I was. I’ve met a lot of people here at ZUMIX. I even made friends with some of the other interns working here with the Sprouts, and we’ve gone out to lunch together every day.
I’m definitely super grateful for all the connections I’ve made during my short time at ZUMIX and amazed at what I’ve learned.
