This summer, we wrapped up an amazing season of programs with our annual Senior Graduation. The evening included a number of ZUMIX traditions: staff members recognizing each graduate, the annual reading of Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, great food, laughter, tears and a few very special songs.
Graduate Luz Juliana Marquez debuted her song “The Room,” a tribute to the people and places (including ZUMIX) who have supported her on her musical and personal journey.
The chorus expressed the emotions of Luz and several Class of 2023 graduates who thanked ZUMIX for providing a safe, supportive space:
Even on my worst days, I still smile ‘cause a room full of people love me
Even on my sad days, I reach out ‘cause a room full of people love me
Even when I’m so scared, I sing loud ‘cause a room full of people love me
Even when I overthink, I’m never left out ‘cause a room full of people love me
The evening ended with a toast – to memories, messes, mistakes, and the bright futures ahead of our graduates. Cheers!
